Take this special 8-day trip and discover the authentic Japanese lifestyle, with four different departure dates available. You can experience one of the most famous ancient Japanese festivals, stay in traditional Japanese-style accommodation, taste authentic multi-course haute cuisine and enjoy a natural hot spring bath. You’ll take a stroll in
Magome and Tsumago - two restored and preserved Edo-period post stations (“Shukuba”) on the ancient Nakasendo Highway in the Kiso Valley. This tour route passes through the breathtaking scenery of the Japanese Alps.

Day 1 Kansai Airport Kyoto

Arrive at Kansai (Osaka) International Airport and transfer to the hotel on your own to begin your tour.

Day 2 Kyoto


Following breakfast, enjoy a Kyoto full-day tour, visiting the Gion Festival for travelers selecting tours 1 and 2, or Kyoto Jidai Festival for tour 4. particpants on tour option 3 will take in Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryoan-ji Temple, Nijo Castle and Heian Shrine.

Day 3 Kyoto Kisoji Hirugami Onsen

Following breakfast, leave Kyoto for Kisoji for a half-day Kisoji tour, walking in Magome and Tsumago - experiencing the traditional Japanese atmosphere of these former post stations. Visit Honjin, the former principal inn of a post station and Toson Memorial Museum in Magome, where the famous author Toson Shimazaki was born. Later, transfer to Hirugami Onsen to experience a traditional public bath at  your Ryokan accommodation (traditional Japanese Inn).

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.

Day 4 Hirugami Onsen Takayama

Following breakfast, depart Hirugami Onsen for Takayama. Participants on tour option 3 will enjoy the Takayama Autumn Festival (tour 3 only). participants on tours 1, 2 & 4 will instead visit historical landmarks such as the Takayama Jin’ya – the surviving Edo period Government House, Sanmachi-suji, and Hida Folk Village (or if Takayama festival is cancelled due to weather).

Day 5 Takayama Matsumoto Fuji Five Lakes Area

Following breakfast, visit the Morning Market in Takayama before heading off for Matsumoto. Here, visit the famous Matsumoto Castle before continuing travel along the  Abo Pass in the Japanese Alps, and transfering to the Fuji Five Lakes Area.

Day 6 Fuji Five Lakes Area Lake Kawaguchi Tokyo

Following breakfast, enjoy a Lake Kawaguchi full-day tour, strolling around with spectacular views of Mt. Fuji on clear days. You will also have the chance to visit the beautiful Itchiku Kubota Art Museum in the wooded hills along the northern coast of Lake Kawaguchi. In the afternoon, transfer to Tokyo and enjoy free time at leisure after hotel check in.

Day 7 Tokyo


Following breakfast, head out to enjoy a full day Tokyo tour, visiting Meiji Jingu Shrine, Harajuku and Shibuya District, Sensoji (Asakusa Kannon Temple), Nakamise Arcade and the Ginza District. In the evening, head to the deignated location to enjoy a 
farewell dinner with the tour group.

Day 8 Tokyo Haneda / Narita Airport (Departure)
