A Unique Snow-Season Cultural Plan
Special Lunch and Culture Experience at the 100-Year-Old Restaurant Ukiyo in the Castle Town of Takada
This tour utilizes a shuttle bus departing from Myoko Ski Resort to fully enjoy the culture of the historic snowy castle town of Takada. Experience the ancient Japanese martial art of Kendo in the homeland of one of Japan's greatest warriors, Uesugi Kenshin. You can see, hear, and touch this unique sport culture that originated with the samurai. The meal venue offers a special lunch at Ukiyo, a 100-year-old restaurant designated as an important cultural property over 150 years old. You can tour the lavish four-story wooden restaurant and enjoy traditional kaiseki cuisine. From here, you can choose between Plan A and Plan B.
Plan A includes a hands-on experience of Kumiko (wood joinery) an making tatami coasters, followed by enjoying freshly roasted Japanese tea and wagashi at the trendy cafe Taga Tea Roasting House, and concluding with shopping for senbei (rice crackers) and other items.
Plan B involves dressing in traditional winter garments, Kakumaki and Tonbi, for a photo session, followed by a senbei grilling experience.
