Day 1 Fukuoka

Welcome to Japan! Upon your arrival at Fukuoka Airport you will be met at the airport by your driver and taken to your hotel. Following check in, the rest of the day is yours to spend freely at leisure exploring the city.

Day 2 Fukuoka

DAY 2: Fukuoka

Following breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and head out to experience a full sightseeing day of Hakata.

Visit Ohori Park, one of the most beautiful parks incorporating water in Japan, continue to Fukuoka castle ruins, which was the largest castle in Kyushu in the Edo period.

After the ruins, visit Fukuoka Tower (please pay entrance fee at the venue for access), the tallest seaside tower in Japan at 234 metres high. From there, go to Marizon, a waterfront terrace thrusting out into Hakata Bay. The remaining afternoon/evening is yours to spend freely at your own leisure. 

Optional Tour: Hakata Doll Painting Experience

Experience the art of painting your own Hakata Doll at on of the specialst Doll Shop in Fukuoka. Create a unique, one-of-a-kind souvenir.

Day 3 Nagasaki

DAY 3: Nagasaki

Following breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the train station. Using your reserved seat train ticket.

Catch the Express Train to Nagasaki where you will meet your guide and enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of Gunkan-jima, an old abandoned island off the coast of Nagasaki.

On your return, spend the afternoon with your guide strolling Megare bridge and Shofukuji, enjoy the shopping, beautiful architecture and delicious local food.

Day 5 Kumamoto

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer by train from Nagasaki to the beautiful Kumamoto City. Once you have arrived and are checked-in to your accommodation, meet your tour guide to embark on an afternoon in Kumamoto tour. Visit the town’s famed castle, enjoy sake tasting at a local brewery and try your hand at Japanese sweet wagashi making before heading back to your hotel to enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 6 Kagoshima

DAY 6: Journey to Kagoshima

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer by train to Kagoshima for another free day of sightseeing at your leisure.

Kagoshima, Kyushu’s southernmost major city, is known for its palm-lined streets and warm climate, drawing comparisons to its Italian sister city, Naples. Visitors can enjoy popular attractions like Kagoshima Aquarium and the Reimeikan Museum, which showcases the area’s rich history and culture. For a touch of adventure, a 15-minute ferry ride takes you to Sakurajima, an active volcano and the iconic symbol of Kagoshima.

Day 7 Kagoshima

Following breakfast at your hotel, you may have a slow relaxing day exploring Kagoshima.

An optional tour we can provide via bus, takes you to Chiran Samurai Houses, located in Chiran Samurai District in Kagoshima Prefecture. This is a street of higher class samurai residences with seven beautiful Japanese gardens. Following this Enjoy Lunch in the local area then transfer to Chiran Kamikaze Bomber Museum.a peace museum dedicated to the pilots, the Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots ("Tokko Heiwa Kaikan"), marks the site. You'll visit the museum and witness its comprehensive collection of recovered aircraft, models, mementoes and photographs of the Special Attack Corps. You'll be awestruck as you view letters to loved ones, final letters before departure.

Alternative plans include personalized experiences with guidence to various sightseeing spots such as;

  • Shiroyama Observatory
  • Sakurajima Yunohira Observatory, closest point to the volcanic vent of Sakurajima.
  • Senganen, a Japanese-style landscape garden along the coast, to the north of downtown.

Day 8 Miyazaki

DAY 8: Miyazaki

Following breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Kagoshima Station and continue on to Miyazaki. Upon arrival in Miyazaki, spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Miyazaki Shrine; a shrine with large park in the city centre & Heiwadai Park; a public park with a unique peace tower make for interesting sightseeing spots, and the prefectural museum is a must visit for those interested in the area's history and nature. Alternatively, Aoshima - a small island just off the coast of Miyazaki with pristine white sand beaches lining a densely jungled island – is easily accessed from Miyazaki and makes for a relaxing day trip. In the heart of this island lies a beautiful shrine; Aoshima Jinja.

Day 9 Miyazaki and Takachiho

DAY 9: Miyazaki and Takachiho

Following breakfast at your hotel, take a train to Nobeoka Station where you will be met by your English speaking guide and travel by public coach to Takachiho. your guide will accompany you on a walk to Takachiho Shrine and Gorge. These stunning landmarks are less travelled by tourists and display the natural beauty of Japan.

After your day of sightseeing through these hidden landscapes, head back to you hotel for a a sensational Dinner and enjoy a Kagura Dance performance – a customary traditional dance and theatre performance with roots that date back over eight hundred years, and in 1978 was designated a significant intangible folk cultural asset of Japan. Following the performance, return to your hotel to spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 10 Beppu

DAY 10: Journey to Beppu

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer from Takachiho to Beppu, Oita Prefecture. Reknown for having the most onsen (hot springs) in all of Japan) your guide will meet you for a special Bamboo Factory Tour and optional Bamboo Lantern Making experience.

Your tour will end in the afternnon, so you may enjoy the sights of Beppu at your leisure.

Day 11 Beppu

DAY 11: Beppu

Following breakfast, meet your English speaking guide and head out on the Beppu Sightseeing Tour. After meeting your guide at JR Beppu Station, make your way to Beppu Jigoku Onsen Museum for one of the most scenic experiences of your journey. Visit both Umijigoku (sea hell) and Oniishi Bozu Jigoku (mud hell).

Next you can enjoy a unique restaraunt experience of steam making your own food (this will require an additional pay on the spot fee), before walking through Beppu city. At the conclusion of this tour,  gather your luggage and transfer back to Fukuoka by train for your last night’s stay in Japan.

Your evening is free to enjoy at your leisure, Our specialists can prepare a special evening plan for your enjoyment of Fukuoka City Nightlife. We highly recommend traversing the streets, to see the famous Yatai (food stands) in what is known as one of the food capitals of Japan.

Following breakfast at your hotel, spend part of the day in Fukuoka at your own leisure until it is time to depart to Fukuoka airport by shared shuttle.

Explore Fukuoka freely or enjoy unique experieces arranged by our Japan specialist team before making your way to Fukuoka Airport by arranged transfer.
